“Shape mesh” -

the new must-have for the office and everyday life

Shape mesh

Dauphin’s new “Shape mesh” chair range impressed experts and visitors alike at the Orgatec in Cologne (26 - 30 October 2010). “A chair which allows anyone to sit comfortably with correct ergonomic posture,” explained Dr Jochen Ihring, managing director of the Dauphin HumanDesign Group. “Whether you are large or small, heavy or light, the ingenious new all-rounder adapts perfectly to your needs and offers great value for money.”

With “Shape mesh”, you really do get a lot for your money. It is following in the footsteps of the bestselling “Shape” model and is part of the same family. Unlike the lead chair in the range which is one of the Dauphin Group's most successful models to date and was one of the winners in the "Office swivel chair test" (5/2005 edition of “Facts” consumer and business magazine), the latest addition is the only product on the market to combine a breathable mesh backrest and the patented Syncro-Activ-Balance mechanism.

This combination offers a number of important benefits. The tensioned mesh fabric is not only breathable and pleasant to the touch but also adapts ideally to your needs in any working position. The cushioned, height-adjustable lumbar support provides perfect support for the lumbar-spine area. The Syncro-Activ-Balance mechanism featuring automatic seat tilt adjustment offers optimum support even in the forwardmost seated position and encourages an upright posture as recommended by occupational health practitioners.

The fact that you cannot tell just how much innovative technology has gone into “Shape mesh” was something else that impressed people at the trade fair. “It is really easy to operate the chair and adjust it to your body size,” said one visitor in amazement. “It does everything itself!” As a result, Dauphin's new range of seating which comprises swivel and visitor chairs in various versions meets an important requirement for offices of the future. After all, this year’s Orgatec proved yet again how our working and office forms have changed in recent years and will continue to do so in the future.

While desksharing, temporary workstations and changing users are becoming increasingly common, classic individual offices are being replaced by open-plan room layouts. We therefore need mobile and versatile furniture which is easy to operate. If this furniture is recognisably sustainable too, then it really does have “must-have” potential. This is certainly the case with “Shape”, as it holds the BIFMA e3–LevelTM 2 Gold environmental certificate in recognition of its sustainability.
